| From the President ............... Greetings, horse racing enthusiasts. Hope everyone enjoyed the excitement of the nations summer/autumn racing action. Here ON TRACK at Goulburn headquarters, the beautiful weather has accompanied some spectacular racing by top class horses and jockeys. For those members who made the most of it, it was good to see you. For those who didn't, come on out and see what all the talk is about.... Here's the news..... LAND SALE: The Club has submitted plans to the council for the subdivision of land fronting Taralga Road. Whilst it is early days, the Club hopes to realise sufficient funds from this development to reduce debts and make improvements to training facillities and also erect a new members/function area which would seat up to 200. These plans are in the preliminary stage at present, but are our long term goals. TRACK IMPROVEMENTS: The Club has sand slitted the Course Proper from the 1400m to 400m and an area near the winning post. This will improve the track's capability in handling heavy rain. GOULBURN WORKERS CLUB: Our President, Fred Cooper, is please to announce the continued sponsorship with the Goulburn Workers Club for the seventh year. It is heartening to see the Workers Club committed to local racing and the community. GENERAL NEWS: The Club will continue with the membership card system that we implemented last year. However a clear plastic sleeve with a lanyard/tie is being investigated. More to follow on that one.... An additional television will be provided in our Member's Area, for replays of local races, within the next few weeks. Check out our website. Our on course photographer is taking social shots at each of our race meetings and you may just feature in our photo gallery ! Local trainer, Graeme Spackman, will be moving his operations on course within the next few months with a dozen stables to be constructed. Welcome Graeme. The Club has entered into a five year contract with Environmental Business Solutions. We are committed to ensuring our environmental obligations are met and to ensuring a safe environment for patrons and staff alike. Once completed, our policy will be available on our website. A big thank you to Stuart Leary, Jack Delbridge, Ray Wilkinson and Pat Jordan for their efforts in keeping our roses looking their best. Compliments have been received, especially during the Rose Festival weekend. Finally, we encourage all members to let us know if you have any exciting news that you would like to share and we will include it in our newsletter and website updates. Updates on our Cup Carnival in November will be found at www.gdrc.com.au over the next few months. |
