| GOULBURN SPRING RACING CARNIVAL Goulburn & District Racing Club President, Fred Cooper, promises that this year's Spring Racing Carnival will deliver some impressive and exciting racing action, this being our 10th anniversary of the opening of the new track. "The Club has had a great response to the carnival already with a booking of 700 guests for the Family Race Day on Sunday 22nd November". The Minister for Racing, Mr Kevin Greene, along with local dignatories including Pru Goward - State Representative for the Southern Highlands - and Mayor Carol James ,will be attending. "I am estatic to have long term supporter of Goulburn Racing, Peter Hutchinson, return - not as a guest speaker but as a guest jockey. He has now made a successful return to racing and is looking forward to the opportunity to win another Goulburn Cup, this time on the new track emulating his success on Highview Lad on the old Goulburn track in 1996. The Carnival begins with the running of Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday 3rd November with live racing action. The hotly contested Fashions on the Field should attract both the girls and guys with fantastic prizes on offer. The Health Service will run their traditional novelty races with plenty of spills and laughs guaranteed. Shane Burgess Entertainment DJ will provide music and courtesy buses will be operating. On Thursday 19th November, the Challenge Foundations runs its popular Calcutta Evening at the Goulburn Race Club. The action continues on Friday 20th November with the Hibernian Hotel Goulburn City Cup Race Day. The Club continues the Cup's Series assocation with Canberra and Hawkesbury Clubs and the people of Goulburn and District are in for a real treat of quality racing. Race goers will enjoy an eight race program, with the highpoints being the staging of the Hibernian Hotel Goulburn Cup and the running of the Think Big Stud Goulburn Rose, a co-feature race , named in honour of the City of Goulburn Rose. Witness some of the Nations' best trainers, jockeys and gallopers compete for the Cup and other major races over the two day carnival. The standard of racing will be top class and will provide unlimited quantities of thrills and excitement. Saturday 21st November's activities wil linclude the Cup Carnival Golf Day at the Goulburn Golf Club. This is a great day and always books out early. Sunday 22nd November will see a huge day for all the family at the Goulburn Worker's Club Anniversary Cup Day. The Anniversary Cup will also feature the running of the Young's Stockfeeds Crookwell Cup. Free children's entertainment will once again be provided due to the generosity of ActewAGL. Loads of free activities will be on offer for the whole family including for younger children - jumping castle, pony rides, clowns, face painting, a visit from Santa Claus and for the older children and big kids - Goulburn Workers Club Indoor Sports Laser Skirmish and car racing machines.
